About Me
The skill of pottery was discovered by Heather during her studies at Burton Art School, where she worked in stoneware using a variety of glazes. It was the use of glazes that gave Heather the inspiration to develop subtle styles to develop her work.
Having relocated to Worcestershire, Heather established her studio and started to build a portfolio of work. Inspiration for her designs, evolved from her rural surrounding utilising natural forms and colours to create contemporary pieces.
A variety of techniques are used by Heather which include slab work, modelling and throwing. The work is fired in a gas kiln where the temperature reaches 1250C, using the reduction technique to create the variety of tones and colours. In recent years a number of pieces from Heather's collection has been fired in a gas soda kiln, which is a traditional technique for a unique finish.
